Since late 2023, I’ve been trying to raise awareness about the number of social media related fitness to practise cases we’ve been receiving regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Pulse Today has now picked up the story from my Twitter. The data shows that complaints to the GMC about Antisemitism went up up from 7 in 2022 to 302 in 2023. Complaints to the GMC about Islamophobia went up from 4 in 2022 to 46 in 2023. I am sure both figures will be much larger in 2024.
Almost every regulator publishes social media guidance and now is an important time to be familiar with the same.
