The Care Quality Commission‘s latest Board meeting quietly took place last Wednesday and included the publication of some shocking staff survey results.
For example:
* 73% of CQC staff do not believe the values and behaviours of the CEO & Executive Team are consistent with the organisation’s values;
* 77% of CQC staff do not believe that any concerns they might raise about the way things are done within CQC would be acted upon;
* 85% of CQC staff do not believe that changes are effectively implemented within the organisation.
I think we have to question how this can be an acceptable state of affairs within the body responsible for regulation of health and social care services. In particular, how can CQC credibly assess whether the entities it regulates are Well-Led (or Effective, or Caring) when this is how its own organisation is run?
Credit to CQC for conducting and publishing the staff survey despite the terrible results.
