The College of Paramedics’ 2021 Honour Awards

The nicest thing that has ever happened in my professional life happened last week, when I received a letter informing me that the College of Paramedics’ Honours & Awards Committee had seen fit to name me, a non-healthcare professional, as an Honorary Fellow of the College.

The letter stated that the Fellowship was awarded “in recognition of your achievements and your outstanding contribution to improving paramedic practice and in turn both patient care and population health” and that “the Committee recognises that you have a genuine commitment to the ongoing advancement of paramedic practice and will continue to do great work for the profession”.

I am so touched and delighted (as well as feeling sheepish and undeserving).  Thank you so much to (a) the healthcare professionals who nominated me and (b) the College’s Honours & Awards Committee.
